Deep in the Forest: When Everything Came Together

Some events are good.

Some events are memorable.

And some become something truly special.

Deep in the Forest was one of those rare days where everything came together; people, place, music, atmosphere and sound.

Held in the beautiful surroundings of Hinton, in the heart of the New Forest, the venue was Drop the Anchor Brewery. Full of charm and character, it offered something real and welcoming from the moment people arrived. It was the perfect setting for a crowd that values quality and good energy.

The feeling started early. Before the event had fully opened, guests were already gathered around the Union Audio Orbit 6 mixer, eager to experience one of the finest rotary mixers on the market.

Those who know quality appreciated it straight away.

The weather also played its part, with sunshine from start to finish. Guests were able to enjoy the outdoor space, relax with a drink, and connect with each other through the music.

A special mention must also go to Drop the Anchor Brewery, who kept everyone hydrated throughout the day. Adding to the experience's uniqueness, the drinks were locally brewed and sourced from the fields adjacent to the venue — a perfect reflection of the local character and spirit of the day.

Musically, the standard was high all day.

Jimpster, Craig Smith and Atjazz delivered with class, experience and proper musical depth. No gimmicks, no shortcuts — just quality music played by artists who understand how to build a crowd and create a journey.

The booth setup reflected the same standards, featuring four Pioneer DJ CDJ-2000NXS2 players and a Pioneer DJ DJM-V10 mixer. Also making its first appearance was the impressive Resør 100 LE Frequency Isolator, adding another level of control and creativity to the sound. Craig Smith had the honour of putting it through its paces, using it brilliantly throughout the day.

Then there was the sound system.

This was a fully analogue 4-way Opus Audio system with AT1000 speakers, delivering warmth, punch, clarity and smooth coverage across the venue. In the booth, a dedicated monitoring system featuring MP400 tops and S218 bass bins provided the DJs with everything they needed to perform at their best.

This is what happens when sound is taken seriously.

Away from the music, Origin Barbecue kept guests well fed with quality food throughout the day, adding another important part to the overall experience.

Behind the scenes, the event was delivered by a small but dedicated team led by Phillip Gill of Gillman Audio and Gary Ellis (South Beach Recycling), with support from family and friends. From the door and parking to facilities and keeping the venue running smoothly, every contribution mattered.

Special thanks also go to Jansch Greatrix for capturing the day through photographs and video, preserving the atmosphere and memories of a special gathering.

Thanks as well to Vanguard Security, whose calm and professional support helped keep the event safe and smooth from start to finish.
